GREEN RIVER – William H. (Bill) Reay, age 85 passed away on May 4, 2015 in Grand Junction, Colo. surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 26, 1930 in Mt. Emmons, Utah to John Faye and Hazel Brunyer Reay. He married Geniel Davies on Sept. 29, 1948 in Mt. Emmons and the marriage was later solemnized on April 30, 1966 in the Manti Temple.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bill and Geniel loved being with family. They included the friends of their children. They had children “not their own” that lived with them from time to time. Family was the most important thing to them. Bill and Geniel lived in the Uintah Basin area, then moved to Monticello where he established Reay’s LP Gas. They spent some time in the Denver area then moved to Green River where he continued his business and raised his family. The community depended on him for all their repair needs. Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman and family man. He never went hunting or fishing without taking his family with him.
He is survived by his wife Geniel, his children Carolyn (Steven) Hatch of Hanksville, Paula Jean Curtis of Moab, Coni Reay of Salt Lake City, David William (Kenna) Reay of Queen Creek, Ariz., Ruth Ann (Kyle) Ekker of Huntington, Kelly D. (Laura) Reay of Vernal and Lynda Sue Johnston of Washington, Utah; sister Mary Klundt; 27 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Max, Dee and Charles, grandson Steven Shae Hatch.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Green River LDS Chapel at 12:30 p.m. with a viewing prior from 10 a.m. to Noon. Interment in the Elgin Cemetery entrusted to the care of Fausett Mortuary. Friends and family may sign the guestbook and share memories of Bill at www.fausettmortuary.com.
