Emery girls golf finishes third in state: Green River boys take fourth in state; finishers in top ten

Sydnee Guymon was the top finisher for the Lady Spartans at last week’s 2-A Girls golf championship held at the St. George Golf Club as the Emery High team finished third. Rowland Hall, a private Salt Lake City school, claimed four of the top ten finishes on the day and ran away with the title while Delta High and Emery High battled for second with Delta edging the Lady Spartans 270 to 260. Beaver and Millard tied for fourth.
Guymon finished sixth overall on the day as she shot an 88. Teammate Taijah Price had the second best Spartan finish as she shot a 93 and finished eleventh overall. Sidney Timothy and Sarah Swasey were the final two scorers for Emery as they shot 103 and 108 respectively.
Alyssa Garrett and Brettlyn Tuttle also participated.
Green River High’s Chance Pfander led the Pirate boys to a fourth place finish at the 1-A boy’s golf tournament also held last week at the St. George Golf Club. The boys played a two- day affair whereas the girls had simply played just a single day. Valley High claimed the boy’s title by shooting a 698 followed by Piute with a 709 and Milford with a 717. Green River shot 722. Rich finished in fifth place and they were followed by St Joseph’s.
Pfander shot 80-88 for a 168 and finished tied for seventh overall. TJ Hughes shot a 87-86 for a 173 and finished tenth. Nick Corrigan shot 87-91 for a 178 and finished thirteenth. Tyson Giles was the next top finisher for the Pirates with a 100-103 for a 203 score and he was followed by Logan Spadafora with a 103-103 and Karson Nelson with a 117-115.
