ELMO- Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, Archie Roy Oviatt, age 63, passed away June 5, 2015 at his home in Elmo while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Price, Utah on Oct. 23, 1951 to Roy and Celia Oviatt.
Married Mary Ann Baird on May 5, 1973 in Elmo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple in March of 2010.
Roy loved riding for the brand. He lived his life and raised his kids around this lifestyle. Anyone that knew Roy, knew how much it meant to him.
He was employed most of his life by Nielson Construction. He loved being a cow hand for them and considered them his family. They took care of him, and he in turn took care of them. Roy was someone that everyone could depend on. He will be greatly missed. Oh Lord, I reckon I’m not much just by myself, I fail to do a lot of things I ought to do. But Lord, when trails are steep and passes high, help me to ride it straight the whole way through, and when in the falling dusk, I get the final call, I do not care how many flowers they send, above all else, the happiest trail would be for you to say to me “Let’s ride my friend”. Amen.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary Ann Oviatt; three daughters and one son, Cheryl (Audrey) Oviatt, Tanya (Shane) Ekker, Nicki Coates and Nick Oviatt; loving mother, Celia Oviatt; two sisters, Mitzi Zserai (Keith), Jenine (Chuck) Bentley; seven grandchildren, Tanesha Conder, Jayden Coates, Shaylynn Ekker, Gavin Coates, Wyatt Ekker, Payton Coates, Elias Martinez; great grandson, Kelton Conder.
Preceded in death by his father, Roy Oviatt; brother, Chet Oviatt; grandparents; many loving aunts and uncles.
Funeral service, Tuesday, June 9, 2015, 11 a.m., Elmo LDS Ward. Family will received friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to service at the church. Interment, Elmo Town Cemetery.
