Emery Rodeo club recently had a good showing at the Utah State High School Rodeo in Heber City. Club Advisor Dawnette Gordon said, “We had four members qualify to go to Rock Springs in July for National Finals.
“Louie Ivie, Hayden and Hadley Cloward are all going in team roping, and McKoy Christiansen is going in Reined Cowhorse. Louie Ivie and his partner Stefan Ramone from SUC club won the state championship in team roping, and Hadley and Hayden Cloward were third. McKoy was third in reined cowhorse.
“We had eight members finish in the top 15 which makes them eligible to go to Silver State Rodeo in Winnemucca Nevada. Louie Ivie and Hadley Cloward in calf roping, Ty Gordon and Taylor Wilstead in team roping, Lacy McElprang in breakaway roping, McKoy Christiansen and Nathan Urie in saddle bronc and Austin Allred in bull riding.
Brooklin Ewell, Hadley Cloward, Teigen Jewkes, and Hanna Nielsen were named to the academic all star team.” said Gordon.
Also at the state rodeo finals members of the Emery team as well as rodeo participants from throughout the state shaved their heads in support of Hadley Cloward who has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Hadley qualified for Nationals. He just graduated from Emery High School on May 21. At the rodeo finals friends and family had an assembly line going and everyone shaved their head in honor of him and as a show of support for a cowboy in need.
