The Emery County Airport Powered Parachute Fly In June 11 – 13, 2015 was hosted by the Huntington Airport. Pilots Joey Anderson, Bruce Funk and Leon Defriez (Huntington Airport manager) were instrumental in making this event possible.
Bruce Funk and his son Emery County Sheriff Greg Funk provided the pilots and their families with a lamb fry dinner Friday evening and the breakfast Saturday morning.
Two years ago Bruce Funk and his family were given rides in a powered parachute by Joey Anderson at the Buckhorn Wash crossroads during a powered parachute flying event held there. Bruce Funk has since purchased a powered parachute and soloed in his powered parachute Friday June 12.
More than 14 powered parachute pilots participated in this years fly in at Huntington Airport.
The club has about 50 flyers as members of the club and 20 of those fly frequently. These pilots call themselves the Cedar Pass Air Force or the Cedar Pass Air Farce depending on the day. They usually fly out of the Cedar Pass Airport. While in Emery County they have enjoyed flying along the Price River to Woodside, flying to the Buckhorn Wash, flying to Mexican Mountain and flying over the San Rafael Swell.
The Powered Parachutes fly low and slow and can land almost anywhere the ground is flat and fairly level.
Some of the pilots made comments about the Emery County Airport facility and the hospitality received. Their comments were as follows great time, best flying days ever, a wonderful wonderland, a wonderful place to fly, there are a lot of things to see, best event in Utah, best welcome ever.
