Conductive Composites on June 16, held an open house with the management giving tours of the manufacturing plant followed by a ribbon cutting. Conductive Composites is a new business located near Cleveland Town.
Nathan Hansen President of Conductive Composites welcomed the crowd of visitors to the open house and ribbon cutting. He stated they are excited to be coming into this community. “This is a fantastic move for us. We have a lot of people to thank for their support, without which this would not have been possible. They are some of our key customers, both those on the government side whom we contract with and our commercial customers. We also appreciate the support from Emery County and the State of Utah. A big thanks to you our employees and everyone that made this possible.
“This ribbon-cutting is just the beginning and we have great expectations. We are making a lot of investments here in Emery County. Part of that investment will be a new assembly line and the installation a three-phase electrical power line to our building,” said Hansen.
Hansen then introduced the three people whom he said really made this move possible. Emery County Commissioner Keith Brady, Linda Gillmor, Director, Office of Rural Development and Mark Buffler, Director of Defense Production Act, Title III.
Commissioner Brady mentioned some of the history of this company in Emery County. Brady said, “Several years ago Conductive Composites came to Green River and found a location at the Green River airport where they started producing product. Apparently they have outgrown that location. It is exciting to see what they are manufacturing here in Emery County. Even though they have moved away from Green River. We’re excited to see they are staying in Emery County with this business.”
Gillmor said, “I congratulate Conductive Composites for locating in rural Utah. We have a lot of businesses and people along the Wasatch front and it is growing rapidly, but we need rural Utah to be healthy too. The Governor’s office of Economic Development has a special program titled the Fast Track Grant. We have been working with Conductive Composites in the past and expect to work with them in the future. Thanks for letting us be a partner with you in this business. We are also excited to see the products you are making.”
Mark Buffler said, “I am the Director of the Defense Production Act, Title III Program. We are the government partner that is working with George and Nathan to put this facility in place. My office is in the Pentagon. It is a pleasure to come out in the real world and see people getting things done.
“What we see behind us here is the essence of a true public-private partnership. Where the government and the private sector, George and Nathan came together to put a capability in place that can assist the National Defense capability. The program that I run has a principle objective and that is there has to be a need for the national capability. George and Nathan produce that technology. It is very important to the nation to have this capability in place. We work on the public side to share the risk in putting this capability in place to meet our needs. This technology is produced here on American soil and is helping to maintain the technological competitiveness of the United States. Those capabilities are on American soil, and that is the objective of the program that I run. Another benefit of our partnership is that it creates jobs, which is an important consideration, it benefits the local community, it benefits the state and benefits the nation. That’s what it’s all about. That Is why we’re here to recognize George and Nathan for what they are doing.”
Mark Buffler then presented to George Hansen a medal the size of a silver dollar with two hands clasped over an American flag. He explained one hand, represents the military side the other hand, represents the private sector. “Congratulations to you, George, and to you Nathan for what you’ve accomplished so far. We look forward to a continued partnership.”
George Hansen made a few remarks about the humble beginnings of this company. He said, “I had no idea how big the market was. There are many emerging opportunities.” George recognized several people and his wife who helped in making this business and product possible.
“What makes this work, this cool over-the-top technology, this enabling technology; the people are the ones that make it work. Those people understand risk and reward. You have to have the unquestionable trust of those around you. Dare to dream and dream as far as your dreams will take you. Sacrifice is not giving up everything. The laws of sacrifice are; You have to be willing to give up everything. There is no limit to what you can do. Teach your kids and your employees that this is how you do business. One of the big ones is honesty. Too often, policy is tempered with the checkbook or is tempered with risk and honesty can be lost in random disorder. Do your best and be proud of what you do,” said Hansen.
