Rocket teams from all over the world had the opportunity to compete in the 10th Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition hosted by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association of Logan. The public had the opportunity to meet with the students who designed the rockets.
The rocketeers were made available at Green River High School to answer questions about their rockets. Some of the payloads on the rockets were designed by high school students.
This is to get students interested in the Science Technology Engineering and Math program.
There were also rocket science demonstrations for the public to see. After days of launching and recovering their rockets the public was invited to an open house in the park.
The IREC hosted a movie night in the Green River park. This year 41 rockets were launched.
Thirty six colleges were represented with more than 500 students participating.
These college students represented seven countries; Australia, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, India, Turkey and the United States. Green River welcomes this event everyyear.
It gives the community the opportunity to meet students from around the world and gives local students the chance to learn about rockets and aerospace engineering. The awards banquet was held on Saturday with the following results.
