The Emery County Republican Party held a coloring of an elephant picture contest for children attending the Emery County Fair.
The elephant picture was published in the Emery County Progress with instructions about how to obtain a free ride on the elephant at the Emery County Fair. Those children who turned in a colored elephant picture were eligible for a free elephant ride. Many of the colored elephant pictures presented were excellent. The colored elephant picture then became the ticket for the elephant ride. Forty-nine children entered pictures and won a ride on the elephant. However not everyone that turned in an elephant colored picture came to the Republican booth to claim their elephant ride. A Republican T-Shirt will be made available to all participants through Bill Dellos at 748-2488.
The first elephant ride winners were Acelyn Migliori, Remington Wrigley and Kurtis Wrigley. Other winners were Kimber Lynn Gilbert, Ryleigh Laws, Reaghan Laws, Cooper Laws and Kashle Laws.
