The Emery County community is mourning the loss of Heather Jacobson and her seven year old son Broc. They were killed in an accident in Spanish Fork Canyon on Saturday.
They were returning from a rodeo at Oakley where Bowdie Jacobson was participating. Bowdie and his father Landon were seriously injured in the accident.
Apparently a car pulled out in front of their truck with horse trailer attached. The car was pulling out onto SR-6 west bound from the US-89 intersection at Thistle.
The truck tried but was unable to avoid hitting the car. The truck left the road and went down a steep embankment.
The couple lived in Cleveland with their family. Bowdie is a member of the rodeo club and also the Emery High basketball team.
Heather was sitting in the passenger seat with Broc in the rear seat directly behind her. Landon was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
It is unknown why the driver of the car pulled out in front of the truck. She was also listed in critical condition.
There were three horses in the horse trailer and they survived the accident but were injured.
