Forest Service schedules tree permit sales
Christmas tree permits will be on sale at the Ferron/Price Ranger District office of the Manti-La Sal National Forest beginning Nov. 16 for $10 each. The office, located at 115 West Canyon Road, Ferron, is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For customer convenience, the Main Street Market, 15 W. Main Street, Ferron will also be selling permits. The cost for permits is the same regardless of where they are purchased.
Permits purchased on the Ferron/Price District must be used on the Ferron/Price District, except at places closed to tree cutting. Permits purchased on other districts of the forest may not be used on the Sanpete District.
There is a limit of three permits per person. To buy a permit for a tree taller than 12 feet, the purchaser must pay 50 cents per additional foot, payable when the permit is purchased. Purchasers will need to provide a debit or credit card, check or exact change. Forest Service offices are not equipped to make change. There are no refunds.
Permits will not be available by mail or phone order.
The Ferron/Price District is east of Skyline Drive. The person selling permits will issue each purchaser a map and cutting instructions. Customers traveling long distances for permits should call in advance to determine if they are still available. Vehicle access, except for snow machines, must be confined to established roads on the Forest. Roads may be muddy, snow packed and slick. Be prepared for winter driving conditions.

Miner’s Memorial Donations
Any donation, large or small, will be greatly appreciated. Donations over $500, for community and economic development purposes can qualify for a tax deduction on your federal and state taxes as a charitable donation by going through the SUCDC.
