With a a hard-fought victory over North Sevier in four sets last Thursday night, the Emery High Lady Spartan volleyball team 8-2 on the season and will host Grand High in a region 15 contest on Tuesday night before hosting Carbon in a non region game on Thursday night.
After splitting the first two sets, Emery won the third set 25-20 after having been down 9-5 and then won the final set 25-19 as they were consistent but had no long runs.
Emery defeated Altamont earlier in the week. Emery is playing good team volleyball right now with all players contributing to the team. Emery plays nine players throughout a game. Seniors Camrey Johnson, Jessica Mason, Bayler Griffin, Jessica Olsen, Skyler Sitterud and Aniston Curtis are a solid class that have played together a long time. Sophomore Morgann Donaldson and freshmen Bailey Huggard and Megan Jensen round out the varsity players that see action. Emery leads region 15 with an 8-2 record in the preseason while Gunnison has an 8-5 record, Grand is 4-4, San Juan is 3-6, Manti is 0-9 and North Sevier is 2-1 with not all games reported.
