"Bowdie Jacobson is a basketball player for Emery High, he was on the team that took second in last year's state tourney. Unfortunately his back injury will keep him off the court this year."

Emery County has a chance to rally around one of their own this weekend with a benefit roping and fundraiser for the Jacobson Family on Oct. 3.
This local rodeo family has fallen on tough times as their mother Heather Ward Jacobson and son and brother Broc Jacobson were killed in a terrible vehicle accident on Aug. 15. Landon, the father, was severely injured in the accident. He has been in the hospital since the time of the accident and is due to be released on Sept. 29. Son, Bowdie Jacobson suffered several injuries as well. Two other children weren’t with the family at the time of the accident, Brant and Baylee.
Landon is still struggling with memory loss and many medical problems due to the accident. He will be recovering and in physical therapy for a long time.
Friends of the family and the rodeo family have put together this fund raiser for the family. They want everyone to know, you don’t have to be a roper to participate in the fundraising event, you can come out and have dinner and participate in the silent and live auction of many items.
There have been several items donated to the auctions. The silent auction items will be on display at the event for bid. If the weather is good this will take place at the pavilion at the Castle Dale rodeo arena.
In addition to the auctions there is a raffle ongoing now for many items that have been donated. A riding lawn mower is one of the prizes.
A great meal is being cooked by master chefs Jon and Cindi Judd. The meal is being donated by San Rafael Works and begins at 5 p.m. A donation is being asked to participate in the meal. The Live Auction begins at 6 p.m. and the silent auction closes at 8 p.m. Raffle tickets will be available at the event and currently on sale now throughout the county. For the roping event, sign up begins at 2 p.m. and the roping at 3 p.m. this will be held in the indoor arena. Open breakaway-$30 progressive on 3; #12 slide pick 1 draw 1-$60 Progressive on 3; #5 under pick 1 draw 1-$60 Progressive on 3.
Prizes will be awarded to high money winner for the day and to average winners of each roping.
Many thanks go out to all who have donated prizes and the cattle for the event.
