Maridean Joyce Taylor Johansen, 82, passed away on Sept. 25, 2015 in Payson, Utah. Maridean was born on Jan. 14, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Alma and Florence Jensen Taylor.
Maridean attended North Sanpete High school and later went back to school to receive her GED. She married the love of her life, Francis Smith Johansen, on June 1, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. They were sealed in the Manti temple on Nov. 30, 1960. Together they had three children. She became a professional seamstress and made many suits for her husband and outfits for cheerleaders. She was a very accomplished and talented seamstress. Later in life she became a postmaster at the Orangeville Post Office and also worked in Moroni with Turkey processing. Yet her greatest job was being a homemaker to her family.
Maridean loved to cook and garden. Yet she especially loved her family and really enjoyed gathering at family reunions. She was a compassionate person who quietly served others in need. She was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved helping at the church bazaars and many other church events. After her husband passed away she served a mission for the church in Missouri.
For the last 2 1/2 years Maridean has been married to Marion Woodmansee. She is also survived by her daughter, Vickie (Jim) Kline. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and 2 brothers: R.L Taylor (Carlene), and Larry Taylor (Judy). She was preceded in death by: her children Francis Butch Johansen (Carol), Valerie Johansen; grandson Jeremiah Kline; and brothers Owen and Melvin Stewart.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Stake Center located at 295 S. State Street, Mt. Pleasant, Uah. A visitation will be held from 9:45 a.m. til 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.
