Regional economic development summit coming Nov. 5-6

November Economic Summit set for USU Eastern campus USU Eastern, Price City and the Carbon County Chamber will present the first Eastern Utah Economic Summit in Price on November 5 and 6.
The Summit will begin with a pre-conference agenda and social on the evening of November 5 with training from Roger Brooks from 4-6 p.m. He is the author of Your Town: A Destination and The Art of Branding a Community. Brooks is well known as a guru of helping towns and cities to grow and thrive. At 8 p.m. there will be a networking social for those attending along with the registration for the conference at the USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum.
On Friday, November 6, the day will be filled with speakers and breakout sessions that will address such issues as marketing, crowd funding, exporting of goods and products and other issues that can help business in rural areas. Registration will take place at 7:30 a.m. with a breakfast at 8 a.m. The exhibit hall will also be open.
The breakfast keynote address, also done by Brooks, will take place from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Breakout sessions will begin at 9:45 a.m. and one will also be held that morning at 11 a.m. In between those two sessions will be networking time and refreshments.
Lunch will take place between noon and 12:30 p.m. with the lunch keynote speaker, Derek Miller, the President and CEO of the World Trade Center Utah, presenting at 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The day will conclude with an Innovation Competition starting at 2 p.m. in which businesses and individuals will compete for prizes for their presentation of ideas and concepts in growing business. The conference ends at 3 p.m. All of Friday’s events will take place at the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center on the USU Eastern Campus in Price.
