Green River High seniors Presley Lovato, Cassidy Bastian, Justice Hatfield and Harli Hatfield played the final game of their Green River career at the recently completed Utah State 1-A state volleyball tournament at Utah Valley University in Orem. The Lady Pirates had finished third in region 19 action this year behind Monticello and Monument Valley.
The Lady Pirates played Tintic High in the first round of state action and lost in three straight games. The scores were 25-23, 25-20 and 25-17. The Green River team then played Bryce Valley in the consolation bracket in four games. The scores were 25-20, 25-17, 21-25 and 25-20.
Monticello, the region champion, made it to the championship game where they lost to Panguitch for the 1-A championship and the Monticello team finished in second place. Rich High defeated Duchesne High in the game for third place and fourth place. Monument Valley lost the fifth place/seventh place game to Intermountain Christian as two region 19 teams finished in the top seven in the state in the 1-A division.
