Here’s a bit of news from “The Pirate’s Den” … We are happy and grateful to announce that with the help of The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, High Country Auto, Rocky Mountain Power, City of Green River and an anonymous donor, we were able to purchase a beautiful van to transport participants to and from programs, activities and events facilitated by the Green River CHEER Coalition/Pirate’s Den Teen Center, including out of town sports events that some are otherwise unable to attend.
Our Light’s On Event was a huge success and enjoyed by all who attended and even some who watched from a far! The weather was a bit scary, but cleared just in time to set off our lanterns! We would like to thank Doreen and Ben Lehnhoff and the Green River Fire Department for their help to make this a safe and fun event.
We participated in The Great American Smoke Out where 70 community members participated. Homemade chicken noodle soup and banana nut bread were served and not even one noodle was left over. Thank you, teen center participants, Erika Gonzalez and Kristin Robertson for making our event such a huge success.
There were 11 participants that completed a Life Skills Class, by attending 90 percent of all classes. They received a $25 gift card and a pizza party.
Remember that the “Teen Center is a safe and fun place to hang out, get help with your homework, plan your future and enjoy all kinds of other fun and educational activities!
