Dear Editor:
I feel compelled to object to the brand the Castle Dale City Council has adopted! They want us to have a catchy, memorable brand that will attract tourists and businesses to our area. “Get Dirty With Us” is a negative and inappropriate brand for our town, and I want us to have something uplifting, positive and more representative of the people who live and work here.
I’ve lived in Castle Dale for 50 years, and I love the fresh air, the small town friendliness; and the family values that we share. While I realize that some folks are all about SPORTS and RECREATION, the current brand speaks only to THEM and has no consideration for the significant number of “the rest of us,” who also have the right to be represented!
Our brand should be complementary to our mission statement! This “dirty” brand seems to be talking about a totally different place than the town that is referenced in the mission statement of the Castle Dale City General Municipal Plan: “Castle Dale is a thriving, friendly community NURTURING FAMILY VALUES.”
Please consider an all-inclusive brand; I prefer “Castle Dale – in the middle of EVERYWHERE!”
And, just as a side note, for anyone who doesn’t know it, or chooses to ignore it, Castle Dale is already FAMOUS, for the Castle Valley Pageant-which is a major 8-night attraction that draws thousands of people to our fair city for the purpose of attending a wholesome, family-friendly entertainment that is sponsored by a church and offered for FREE admission.
Yet, while those people are here, they spend freely at grocery/convenience stores, restaurants, service stations, motels, and other local businesses. Why should the brand not acknowledge THEM? By the way, if I had only “heard” about the Pageant and wanted more information about Castle Dale, I would be turned off by the website that promotes the dirty stuff that is happening there.
