Castle Dale DUP will hold their first meeting of the new year on Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. in the senior center. A fun and interesting program has been planned. So please attend. Don’t forget the food bank and visitors are always welcome.

You may be eligible for: assistance with nursing home or assisted living costs disability compensation dependency and indemnity compensation for your surviving spouse Utah disabled veteran property tax abatement, Utah veteran cemetery, VA healthcare, VA pension, burial benefits, a child under the age of 18 with a disability and more.

Stuffed Animals
Huntington Elementary is seeking donations of new or gently used stuffed animals and small toys for the Valentine’s carnival on Feb. 5, 2016. Drop off your stuffed animals at Huntington Elementary or the Emery County Progress. Clean out those closets and get ready for Christmas.

Castle Valley Pageant
Making plans for next summer? The Castle Valley Pageant will be performed at the mountain amphitheater July 28 through August 6, except Sunday and Monday. Invite family and friends. Plan to attend.
AWANA kids club will be starting on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. at Desert Edge Christian Chapel. AWANA is a Bible based club for preschool-6th grade children.
Emery County Clothing Exchange needs help.
We are trying to help the community, by providing clothing to those in need. This project is in the beginning stages and we are in need of hangers and clothing racks in order to accommodate our clothing donations. Please contact Kat at 435-749-1750 in order to coordinate.
Girls State
The Ferron American Legion Auxiliary would like all High School girls in their junior year to have a chance to go to girls state. That one chance will be June of 2016. Financial partial scholarships could be made available through our Legion and Auxiliary. Contact Jo Sansevero for more information. 384-2648.
Perkie Travel
Transportation service is being offered for all patients from Carbon/Emery area who are receiving radiation treatments at the Central Utah Clinic or Utah Valley hospital in Provo. Perkie travel is free of charge Monday through Friday. Perkie travel is operated through Active Re-Entry, a private non-profit organization. For more info call 435-637-4950.
Miner’s Memorial Donations
Any donation, large or small, will be greatly appreciated. Donations over $500, for community and economic development purposes can qualify for a tax deduction on your federal and state taxes as a charitable donation by going through the SUCDC. You may receive up to fifty percent of your donation back as a Utah income tax credit. One hundred percent of all proceeds go to the miners memorial.
Sponsorship: Platinum-$25,000. Gold-$10,000. Silver-$5,000. Bronze-$1,000. Copper-$500. Sponsors names will be placed on the monument. You can donate online at ourminers.com.

Addiction Recovery program in Emery County
General addiction meeting: Sunday at 6 p.m. San Rafael Junior High Seminary, 395 W 500 S in Ferron.

Family support Group: Wednesday at 7 p.m. Castle Dale Stake Center, High Council room, 25 E. Main.

This 12 step program is adapted with permission from AA World Services to include the Savior, Jesus Christ as our higher power. The program assists substance and behavior addicts and their families who desire a better life free of addictions.
There is no cost. No referral or recommendation is needed. All Meetings are anonymous and confidential.

CASA Volunteers
CASA volunteers advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. The primary responsibilities of a CASA volunteer are to: Gather Information: Review documents and records, interview the children, family members and professionals in their lives. Appear in/Attend Court: Advocate for the child’s best interests and provide testimony when necessary. Emery County Care and Rehab is looking for volunteers to help with activities such as bingo callers, musicians, dancers, singers, karate demonstrations, balloon animals, community theater, any other sort of unique talent is welcome.
