Mayor Roger Swenson opened the Orangeville City Council meeting of Jan. 20. One of the first items on the agenda was the swearing in of new council members.
These newly elected council members Carol Stilson, Kirk McQuivey and Janet Tuttle repeated the oath of office while being sworn in by City Recorder Ruanne Leeflang.
Mayor Swenson presented to Ben Orgill a beautiful clock with the name of Ben Orgill on its plaque. This presentation was to thank Ben for his outstanding service to the city during Ben’s years on the City Council.
Next on the agenda was the re-appointment of Cindy Nielson as the City Treasurer and Ruanne Leeflang as the City Recorder.
This year with the exception of February 10, the City Council meetings will be held on the second Thursday of the month starting on March 10 at 7 p.m.
There will be an Open Meeting training held before the City Council meeting Feb. 10 starting at 6 p.m.
Rental fees for the Community Center of $5 per hour were approved with adequate liability insurance provided by the people or company renting the facility.
The Community Impact Board list was reviewed and Mayor Swenson suggested they add the extending of the Salt Shed roof at an estimated cost of $38,500 to the list. Cindy Nielson and Ruanne Leeflang listed for the council the training meetings and conference meetings held throughout the year that the council is invited to attend.
Allen Childs the Zoning Administer reported a list of building permits and business applications. Council Woman Janet Tuttle said the Orangeville City clean up would be held during the month of March.
Carol Stilson indicated the Youth City Council would be meeting on the first Thursday of each month.
The Youth City Council will also attend the State of Utah Legislative Day.
