He was raised in Moab, Utah and graduated from Grand County High School. He was sealed to Deanna K. Walker on March 22, 1974 and they had five children. After a few moves they resided in Springville, Utah where they raised their children.
Clay was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His service to others went far beyond his church callings. He was a man of service who never hesitated to help when called upon. He was a scout master at the age of 18 and devoted much of his life to scouting. He completed his ticket for Wood Badge Training and also received the On My Honor Adult Recognition Award. He remained true to his love of scouting and worked hard with his sons to see that they earned their Life and Eagle Scout awards. In his final days he took pride in working with his youngest son, Jim, on Jim’s ambitious Eagle Scout project. He used his skills to excel in welding and steel fabricating. He became a Certified Welder and a Quality Control Technician. He was a man of Honor and would not compromise his standards or integrity. In 1994, his marriage to Deanna ended. On Jan. 14, 1995 he married Jo Ellen Harris and they were sealed together in the Provo Temple on April 6, 1996. Izora Kay and Jim Clay were later sealed to Clay and Jo Ellen. Clay and Jo lived in Moab for a few years then made their home in Price, Utah. He was a very unique man who loved his family dearly.
