The Sterling Scholar competition was held on March 10 at Carbon High School. The event was hosted by Grand County High. Students from the southeast region attended. Emery High had three winners and eight runner-up finishers.
The winner of the English category was Natahlie Reay from Monticello. The Emery participant was Abram Hadfield.
The winner of the mathematics category was Kalen Gunter from Carbon. Alexa Cook from Emery was a runner-up.
The winner of the social science category was Dalton Latimer from Carbon. Derek Anderson from Emery was a runner-up.
The winner of the world languages category was Travis Fehlberg from Emery. Gabriel VanDyke from Carbon was a runnerup.
Andrea Hofer from Carbon won the family and consumer science category. Jessica Mason from Emery was a runner-up.
Aniston Curtis from Emery won the drama and vocal performance category. Tatum Atwood from Carbon was a runner-up.
Andrew Williams from Carbon won the music category. The participant from Emery was Skyler Sitterud.
Taylor Gagon from Carbon won the business and marketing category. Jessica Olsen from Emery was a runner-up.
Jac’lyn Bera from Carbon won the forensics and speech category. Devin Willson from Emery was a runner-up.
Brandon Cole Montella from San Juan won the computer technology category. Braydon Roberts was the participant from Emery.
Symony Call from Grand won the visual arts category. Shaylynn Rowley from Emery was a runner-up.
Tyson Robert Prince from Carbon won the skilled and technical education category. Kacey Farnsworth was a runner-up.
