PRICE-Marvin J Safley, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home on March 27, 2016.
He was born March 21, 1939 in Price, Utah to Lewis John and Rue Rich Safley.
Marvin grew up in Wellington, Utah where he had many friends and was affectionately known as “Tug”. In January of 1958, he joined the US Army and was recalled during the Berlin Crisis where he served from October 1961 to August 1962.
Married JoLene Bentley, Jan. 7, 1960 in Price; their marriage was solemnized July 1, 2000 in the Manti Temple.
Marvin earned the name “Starvin Marvin” because he was so skinny. He attended local schools and graduated from Provo Trade Tech where he received his electrician license. Marvin worked for Harmon Electric and various other electrical companies prior to working for Electrical Contractors Inc. where he retired in 2001.
Marv loved hunting and especially fishing at Flaming George. He always made sure that he spent at least one week every spring trying to catch the “big one”. The last few years his son, Raymond, took him so he could fish. Marvin cherished those trips and especially those big fish stories.
Survivors include his wife, JoLene Safley of Price; daughter, Ellie O’Neil of South Jordan; sons, Brent (Lisa) Safley, Pleasant Grove, Raymond (Danielle) Safley, Wellington, Richard (Laurie) Safley, Price; 11 grandchildren, two step-granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren on the way. His great granddaughters, Riley, Brinleigh and Chevelle made his last years bright and happy with their shenanigans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Rue Rich Safley; his youngest son, Alan Gary Safley; sister, Norma Oliver; and his brothers Lamar and Leon.
A special thanks to Dr. Gagon and Dr. Etzel, the nurses at Castleview Hospital and Mitchell Funeral Home for the special care given to Marvin.
