PRICE, UTAH – Garth Dean Peacock, 93, beloved husband, father and grandfather died May 11, 2016. He was born March 4, 1923 in Orangeville, Utah to Louise Chapman and Francis Dean Peacock. He was married to La Ver Jones on Jan. 23, 1946 in Castle Dale, Utah, divorced and remarried April 21, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Garth was raised in Orangeville and graduated from Central High School. He worked most of his life in the coal mines as a mechanic/electrician. Garth loved learning and took many vocational courses at Carbon College/College of Eastern Utah. His passion was hunting and fishing. He also liked to garden. After retiring Garth and La Ver attended the rodeo championships in Las Vegas. He loved to watch the bull riding on TV.
Garth was a proud Marine and fought in the Pacific theater in several major battles. Over his life he was active in American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Garth is survived by his wife La Ver, son Richard (Kathleen) Peacock, sister Genevieve St. Clair, 10 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Thelma Peacock and Violet (Jack) Leonard, and grandson Ryan Peacock.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Orangeville 1st Ward Chapel. A viewing was held Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment, Orangeville City Cemetery with military honors.
