FERRON-Bertha Mae Farish Blackburn, 90, passed away May 18, 2016 at the Emery County Care Center in Ferron.
She was born Jan. 24, 1926 in Spring Canyon, Utah to Robert David Farish and Bertha May Ashbaugh. Married William Elbert Blackburn, Oct. 29, 1943 in Spring Canyon, Utah; their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on April 27, 1977. Elbert preceded her in death on February 15, 1980.
Bertha was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as the compassionate service leader for over 35 years. She served in many callings and especially enjoyed working at the Manti Temple and doing genealogy. In her earlier years she worked as a beautician in California where she owned and operated a beauty salon. Bertha enjoyed cooking, painting and handiwork. She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Survived by her son and daughter, Robert Earl (Deborah) Blackburn, Ferron, Ruth Ann (Ray) Ellett, La Mirada, Calif.; brother, Robert Farish, Springfield, Ore.; sisters, Pat Paiz, West Valley, Judy (Fred) Halverson, Price; Five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, six wonderful sisters-in-law, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elbert Blackburn; sons, Earl and Frank Blackburn; granddaughter, Lisa Ellett; and five brothers, Ernie, James, Richard, George and Martin.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone at Emery County Care & Rehab and Symbii for years of comforted and skilled care to our mother.
Funeral service, Wednesday, May 25, 2016, 11 a.m., Millsite LDS Ward (35 West 200 North) in Ferron where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment, Ferron City Cemetery.
