At Soldier Hollow in Midway on a very windy day, the Emery High girls golf team finished second behind the private school of Rowland Hall.
Emery finished with 246 points to Rowland halls 267. State medalist for Emery were Taijah Price finishing third with 74 points and Sydnee Guymon close behind in fourth with 72 points.
“Taijah and Sydnee played very well today considering the conditions,” said coach Tom Hansen.
“I know the team is disappointed today because they felt they did not play their best golf.
“But under these conditions and the pressure of the state tournament, I’m still very proud of them.”
“They have worked hard now for three years and this is the first time we have received a trophy at the state tournament. We will to be very tough again next year.” “I am just so blessed to be able to coach such a great group of girls that have such great parents and such great community support.”
“The other schools always comment on how great our girls treat their girls, and how our parents treat the girls on the other teams with so much respect. I’m just so proud of all of them.”
Other scores from the rest of the team were Sarah Swasey and Erin Oliverson with 50 points each.
Also Sid Timothy and Lainee Jensen had 47 points each. Each and everyone of the six girls has been a great contributor to the team throughout the season. Their efforts are much appreciated.
