Janie Thompson age 83 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in Ferron, Utah. Janie was born on Dec 11, 1932 in Tipton, Indiana to William and Mary Twilling McAvoy. Janie did not find her true love until later in life when she met and married Gary Thompson, the love of her life. In the early 1990s Gary and Janie retired to beautiful Ferron where they enjoyed the quiet lifestyle of country living.
The Thompsons were known for having a beautiful yard filled with flowers in the summer and a Christmas display that rivaled the rich and famous.
Gary passed away in late 2013, leaving Janie with her loyal companion Buddy. Just as his name suggests Buddy (her Yorkie) was her best friend and loyal companion. The last few years as Janie’s health declined Buddy was always by her side. Janie took advantage of her good days and dressed up in her favorite color purple, picked out her favorite purse, adorned in her favorite jewelry and off to town she would go. She would make a day out of getting her hair done at Loretta’s, she spent hours choosing books with Colleen at the library and visited Main Street Market where she was a special friend to everyone there, whether they were coming or going. Janie loved to talk to people, to her friends, she called many of her friends nearly every day. She always had a listening ear and was never afraid to speak her mind.
Janie was an avid reader and could be found at all hours, day or night reading or watching movies. Janie had many friends, that would help her often. She was very appreciative of their time and concern for her. Janie will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 720 North Center Street, Castle Dale, Utah. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Janie at www.fausettmortuary.com
