Castle Dale City reviewed and approved the increased utility connection fees from Castle Valley Special Service District. The charges are set by the CVSSD, and are passed on to the city with a 10 percent administrative fee.
The Council read and discussed the New Lawn Watering Permit Application. Councilperson Julie Johansen and Councilperson Jacob Barnett wanted to change the name to a waiver instead of a permit. Completed applications will be available in City Hall to reference when a complaint is received about watering outside of permitted hours. The Council decided that this application can be done over the phone.
The Mayor asked Jackie to advertise in the Emery County Progress for a new Ordinance Enforcement Officer.
The city disscussed the Approval of Transportation Tax Increase. The Mayor noted this is an approval to put this tax increase on the Ballot. All Cities in the County must approve it for it to be on the Ballot.
In the Fire Department Report Fire Chief Arrien said all Firefighters have passed their skills test, and are waiting for the results of the written test. The Burn Window has closed, and there is a restriction on all outside burning now. The State has made it a misdemeanor to burn without a permit.
There have been no bids on the truck up for sale. The Mayor approved sale to CVSSD or the original inquirer, whichever is the best deal. The proceeds will go back into the Fire Dept budget.
The Council Reports for the June meeting talked about the Castle Dale Day. “We have the BBQ and Kid’s Rodeo tomorrow. The City is paying for the Firefighters to eat, as well as Monroe, the announcer for the Kid’s Rodeo, and his family. There will be a Sandbox Safari Friday at noon, and Beach Ball Bingo at 1 pm. Cold Stone Ice Cream at 3:00. The City Hall Office will close at noon on Friday, and the staff will help with the activities reported Councilperson Dorsch.
Mayor Dan VanWagoner asked for opinions for naming the Arena for a Corporate Sponsor. The Council was in favor of that.
The Council discussed the budget and made some changes including increasing funding for sidewalk repair, for final approval on June 21.
