On July 27 at 4 pm. the Jazz Man event will take place at Emery High. Thurl Bailey will be the player. Nate Martinez coordinator said, “Thurl will do a great job and people will be excited to see him. He does a lot of clinics and he really enjoys being involved.”
All of Emery County is encouraged to come and meet former Jazzman Thurl Bailey. Thurl played for the Jazz for nine seasons and currently works as a member of the Jazz broadcast team.
Bailey played college basketball at North Carolina State and was a member of the 1983 NCAA Championship team coached by Jim Valvano. The Jazz selected Bailey with the seventh overall pick in the 1983 NBA Draft and he went on to average 14 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during his career in Utah.
In addition to his broadcast duties with the Jazz, Bailey is also a public speaker, singer and songwriter and is involved in many other community programs.
All Jr. Jazz participants are invited as well as other members of the community.
The children will have the opportunity to meet Bailey and have their pictures taken. They will have basketball drills and learn some tips.
