HUNTINGTON – Debra Lynn Oviatt, 61, passed away peacefully at her home in Huntington on Aug, 6, 2016 after a courageous battle with health issues. She was born July 3, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio to Vernon J. and Phyllis Marjorie Rickerd Jensen. She married Warren L Oviatt on Nov. 25, 1972 in Huntington and later solemnized on July 25, 1981 in the Manti Temple. She was very active in many places including the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was a former Cub Scout Pack Leader. She was an announcer for KOAL Radio and was known as the “voice of Castle Country”. She also loved the radio auctions and the program Barter Bar. She was a very devoted wife and mother and she loved to tell stories about her family. She loved to out shoot the boys at the range, and loved fishing (except for baiting the hook), and camping. She was very proud of all her children’s accomplishments and their military service. She loved serving the people as the manager at 7-11 and was always ready to go to Bunco.
Debra is survived by her husband Warren Oviatt of Huntington, her children Kasie and Doug Wayman of Huntington, Michael B Oviatt and his former wife Cindy of Huntington, David L Oviatt of Huntington, Kathi L and Dale A Robinson of Saratoga Springs. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and her siblings Robert Jensen of Gunnison, Thomas and Christine Jensen of Huntington, Janet Devereaux of Elmo, and Gordon and Shauna Jensen of Price. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, brothers-in-law Chet Oviatt, Larry Devereaux, an infant son, two great nephews and a sister-in-law Charlene Oviatt.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home in Huntington. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Huntington Stake Center with a viewing to be held at the church an hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the Huntington City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home in Huntington.
