Every year the drill team needs to find sponsors and opportunities to earn money to pay for all the expenses the drill team have. For instance, competitions, gas, food, hotels, and on and on. This year Cindy Draper took on the enormous task of fundraising. We Live in a small community and so it seems there are always students from a team sport or cheerleaders and Drill team girls asking if you’d like to buy cookie dough or pizza or coupon books as a way to receive all the fundraising money our school children need to keep their teams and programs available.
Our local businesses have been extremely generous. Our neighbors and friends have been absolutely wonderful. Cindy made a really good suggestion in one of the parent Spardette meetings. Because everyone in our county has been so generous she wanted to give the girls the opportunity to really work for the fundraising money that the people in our community are giving them.
This year the Spardettes went from house to house with door hangers explaining that the Spardettes will be in their area in the next few days and are cleaning their city garbage cans as a fundraiser. The cost was $20 for one can or two for $35. We have had so many people comment saying things like ” Its so good to see you girls working so hard for your money.”
We even had a sweet lady stop her car and write out a check to donate to the drill team. She told the girls she didn’t need her garbage cans cleaned. She was so impressed that they were willing to work so hard. This was not one of the favorite fundraisers the drill team girls have done. However, our team has never received more positive comments from community.
Again, thank you to all those people and businesses who have been so generous. It was good to see such beautiful girls get on their hands and knees and scrub out the garbage cans. These beautiful girls know how to work. Whether it’s cleaning out garbage cans or spending hours practicing their dance routines, these girls can work. We have had such wonderful support from our community and local businesses. Thank you all so much!
