On October 2, 2016 at approximately 9:33 a.m. a red 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was eastbound on SR-6 near mile marker 196 in Spanish Fork Canyon.
A blue 2012 Kenworth semi was westbound in the same area. The Monte Carlo went left of center and struck the driver side of the semi.
The driver, and sole occupant, of the Monte Carlo car was not wearing his seat belt and was partially ejected through the driver’s door window.
He sustained fatal injuries and was deceased on scene. Highway 6 was closed in both directions for approximately 3 1/2 hours for investigation and cleanup.
None of the occupants in the semi were injured. The deceased male driver of the Monte Carlo was identified as Daniel J. Pike, a 30 year old from Price, Utah.
Driving under the influence by the deceased driver is suspected and is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash.
