Castle Dale City met for their council meeting. Nosh Arrien fire chief stated that they have started safety training with ULGT, and will do a monthly webinar in addition to local training.
The City workers have scheduled to paint the crosswalk, and to paint the curb and gutter by the crosswalk red. Jared Lofthouse and Kerry Lake have visited the property owners for an area which is not zoned agricultural and Jared offered them an alternative. They have not moved the horses as promised. Julie Johansen will look into what the next step will be possibly an official letter.
Mayor Van Wagoner proposed four new land use Committee Members: Joann Jeffs, Andrew Larsen, Diana Thompson, and Dallas Magnuson.
Fire chief Arrien reported the Burn Window in Sept 15 to Nov 15 this year. On Oct 12 they are going to Castle Dale Elementary for Fire Week.
The Welcome Center is cleaned except for the floor.
The Building Inspector is coming Thursday for the final inspection. In the Sidewalk report they are starting on Main Street now and have replaced 2023′ of sidewalks and have 890′ left. The total for sidewalks will be $61,000. This is over budget as I had not calculated approaches.
J&D Auto wants a new approach, we will replace their sidewalk, but will bill them for the approach. On the New City Hall, the fire suppression lines have been flushed. The Fire Marshal has authorized me to do the final inspection.
In the Treasurer Report Jackie Collard asked how much to bill for the concession stand during the Lamb Fry and who to bill. It will be $25 per day. Joel gave her a contact number for Troy Winters.
In the Council Reports, Joel Dorsch requested a drawing of the finished new City Hall. Councilman Brad Giles said The 2017 wish list for the CVSSD for the CIB Grants is Esquire Parkway apron and asphalt, a wall on the south side of the hill on 200 North.
The Council discussed storm drains on Esquire Parkway.
Council person Julie Johansen reported she is on the committee creating the new EMS agency. “I need to know the Council’s concerns and opinions to represent.” us. She noted there will be 11 members on the EMS board, with one coming from the County, and one from each City and one will be a doctor.
Brad Giles doesn’t like how the agreement is written.
Mayor Van Wagoner said “The person who represents our City needs to know about EMS. It would be good if he or she was an EMT.”
Mayor Van Wagoner said, “The new building is 40 percent finished and is still nine days behind schedule. I have met with the Sterling Scholars and they agreed to help man the Visitor’s Center. We are getting a sign for it, and should open soon.”
