CASTLE DALE, UTAH – Sunny Johansen Nielsen, 77, passed away on Oct. 11, 2016 in Price, Utah. She was born on May 22, 1939 in Castle Dale, Utah to Byron C. and Agnus Udella Peterson Johansen. She graduated from South Emery and attended Carbon College. She went to work as a legal secretary for the Sheriff’s Office. She married Christian Merrill Nielsen on Jan. 15, 1960. They had three kids and she took on her greatest job of Mom.
They purchased the Trowel Ranch where they lived and ranched to this day. They spent many a day at a team roping and she adopted every team roper as one of her kids.
She is survived by her husband Chris Nielsen; children Shane and Laurel Nielsen, Amy and Gary Adams, and Hank and Nedra Nielsen, all of Castle Dale, Utah; grandchildren Ashley and Phillip Freeman, Rori and Alisha Nielsen, Dustin Nielsen, AnnDee and Jaydon Mead, Teigan Adams, Reo and Cameron McGuire, Taylen and Keeley Nielsen, Hanna Nielsen, and Bret Nielsen; great grandchildren Shaylynn and Jentri Price, Korbin and Bentley Nielsen, and Christopher Freeman; and sisters InaLee Magnuson and Kay and Ray Paoli.
She is preceded in death by her parents By and Udella Johansen and Leo and Reo Nielsen, and siblings Pat Brinkerhoff Finn, Zora Fielder, Jean Curtis, and Kirk Johansen.
Funeral services were held, Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Castle Dale Stake Center. A viewing was held Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and Friday, October 14, 2016 from 10-10:50 a.m. at the Castle Dale Stake Center.
