Lady Spartans add two wins this week

The third-ranked Emery High Lady Spartans will face the fourth ranked Millard Eagles tonight, Dec. 20 at the Spartan Center in a featured battle before the Christmas break begins. Emery, with a 6-1 season record, will be looking to add to their win total with a victory in this game. Emery will close out their December schedule on Thursday night with a game at Union High in Roosevelt.
Megan Jensen, the Lady Spartan post player, is ranked seventh in 2-A scoring while Lainee Jensen is fourth in 3-point shooting. Kacelyn Toomer is ninth in steals with teammate Morgan Hurdsman right behind is 12th place.
Last week Emery played two games and won those two games fairly easy as the Spartan offense was good and the Spartan defense was even better.
Emery defeated Duchesne on Tuesday night by the score of 46-22 and then defeated Delta, last season’s 2-A state champions on Thursday night by the score of 62-29.
Emery limited the Rabbits to just 10 first half points and the Eagles to just 9 first half points. Emery led Duchesne 38-11 after three quarters and Delta 49-16 after three quarters of play.
At Duchesne 12 different Spartans played in the game with eight of them scoring. Against Delta, 15 different Spartans played and 12 of them scored in the game.
Megan Jensen and Kinlee Toomer led the team in scoring against Duchesne with 11 points apiece. Megan also led the team with 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Lainee Jensen scored 4 points and led the team with 6 steals. Also scoring in the game were Taijah Price with 7 points,
Kacelyn Toomer with 6 points, Bailey Huggard and Morgan Hurdsman with 3 points and Hailey Jo Allred with 1 point.
Against Delta, Megan was the leading scorer with 14 points with Kinlee right behind with 11. Also scoring were Bailey and Kacelyn with 6 points each, Lainee with 5 points, Kira Saling and Adri Childs with 4 points each, Erin Hurst and Jo Jo Petersen with 3 points each and Hailey Jo, Madisyn Alton and Morgan with 2 points each.
