Green River Lady Pirates basketball team concluded their 2016-17 season with a pair of losses at their Utah State 1-A basketball tournaments. In mid-February, the Lady Pirates concluded their season with losses to St Joseph by the score of 48-30 and to Piute by the score of 58-35 at the 1-A tournament in Richfield. Green River had qualified for the 1-A tournament by defeating Merit Academy by the score of 42-15 in a play-in game held on Tuesday before the actual tournament started on Wednesday.
The Lady Pirates finished with a 7-18 season record and a 3-5 region 19 record. Maribel Escalante led the team in scoring this season with a 16.04 scoring average and she was followed by Savannah Williams with a 8.64 average and Daniela Mendez with a 6.52 average. Monticello was region 19 champion and finished with an 8-0 season record. Monument Valley came in second followed by White Horse, Green River and Pinnacle.
