SAINT GEORGE – High School students interested in exploring health care careers are invited to participate in the Southern Utah Area Health Education Center’s annual Health Career Exploration Camp being held for the first time at Dixie State University. The camp will take place June 19-21st and is open to all current 9th – 12th grade high school students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
The camp is designed to help participants explore health care careers in a fun and hands-on learning environment. Students will participate in seven different workshops, as well as participating in activities that focus on team-work and leadership skills. Workshops are hands-on and teach students about careers such as: Veterinary, Dentistry, Doctor, Nurse, Pharmacist, Medical Technologist, Respiratory Therapy and many more. For the first time, students will have the opportunity to attend these activities in the very classrooms where they could one day attend classes in pursuit of one of these careers. Group activities, including keynote speakers and an outdoor dinner and a quiz bowl.
Cost for the camp is $200, which includes housing during the camp at newly completed Campus View Suites on Dixie State’s campus, meals, workshop supplies, transportation during the camp, and a camp t-shirt. Transportation to and from Dixie State University is up to the individual attendee.
