On May 15, 2017 at 4:32 pm a 2004 Nissan Xterra was traveling eastbound on I-70 at approximately mile post 153. For an unknown reason the vehicle drifted off the road to the left, the driver corrected back onto the roadway and then the driver over-corrected and the vehicle went off the road to the left into the median where it rolled multiple times. There were two passengers in the vehicle, a 26 year old male driver and a 26 year old female passenger. The male was pronounced deceased on scene and the female passenger was removed from the vehicle by some motorists on scene and was transported by air to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction Colorado. It appears that both occupants were wearing seat belts.
