Orangeville council awards Mayor’s award

The Orangeville City Council held their monthly meeting May 11, to conduct city business.
One of the items on the city agenda was the Mayor’s Award to Cody Howard an outstanding student of Cottonwood Elementary School. Mayor Roger Swenson said we appreciate these young people in our community for being a good friend, helping others and listening to your teacher. When you listen to your teacher and when you do what you should do in school you benefit the school and the community. The teachers at Cottonwood Elementary school nominated you and the City Council approved for you to receive a check from the city for $50. Take the advice of your mom and dad as to how you spend that money. His mother Pamela Howard was on hand to witness this award.
The council ratified a previous action to raise Culinary Water rates by $1 a month.
A change was made to the Orangeville City Policies and Procedures which reduced the amount of weight a city employee should be able to lift or carry from 100 pounds down to 50 pounds.
Orangeville City Council approved a City Ordinance that indicates the keeping of the curb and the sidewalk clear of weeds and snow are the responsibility of each property owner.
The date for a public hearing to approve the 2016-2017 Budget and Enterprise Fund Transfer of $30,000 will be held June 14 at 7 p.m.
A change order was approved by the City Council for the asphalt paving in the Orangeville City Welcome Park which has increased from to $28,251. The money will come from the Capitol Projects Fund. The 2017 City Capital Projects list, in which there are many projects, was approved.
The council next discussed and approved that citizens were responsible for the removal of weeds and snow from the sidewalk in front of their property.
