Jace Marietti

PRICE- Jace Derrick Marietti, age 20, died at home surrounded by his loving family after a lifelong battle with Cockayne Syndrome. He did not lose his battle, he won, and now he is free of his broken body.
Jace was born on Sept. 27, 1996 to Jason and Valorie Thayn Marietti. Jace was loved by so many, and was supported by the entire community. Most were charmed by his kind spirit. Many were impressed by his huge character that took shelter in such a tiny body, and there were some that were just jealous of his mad skills with the ladies. Jace was a leader and led us to be kinder people. He was a teacher and he taught us, not what to see, but how to see the world. Cockayne syndrome may have ravaged his body, but it was powerless against his enthusiasm for life, and paralyzed by his capacity for love. Jace was truly a generous and kind soul.
Jace wanted to be a police officer when he grew up, and he was made an honorary deputy in 2014. He was very proud of his badge, and often threatened to give people tickets for their bad driving. Jace was known to give “knucks” to almost everyone, and usually asked people to feel his muscles. He was very proud of his knife collection, and preferred Nickelback over any other music.
Survived by his Mom and Dad; brothers, Preston, Dylan, and Jaxon; grandparents, Fred and Elaine Marietti; girlfriend, Rikelle Larsen; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Jace was welcomed into heaven by his grandparents, Lon and Loretta Thayn, and Claudia Marietti; aunt, Nicole Marietti; cousin, Braxton Brundage, and many other loved ones.
Thank you to our small, but wonderful community for all of the love and support that they have given to our family. Jace lived a big life, and our community helped to make that possible. Thank you to Castle Valley Center, and their entire staff for taking such great care of Jace and our entire family. Thank you to CNS Hospice, especially Willow, for providing love and care to us during the last several months of Jace’s life. Jace had so many visitors that came by to show him that they loved him. The family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home on June 3 from 5-7 p.m., and we will gather to celebrate his life at Mitchell Funeral Home on June 4 at noon. The family will be there to receive friends on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. There will be a luncheon at the Hope Center immediately following.
Jace was an example of pure love. We will learn to go on without you here, sweet boy, but we will miss you every day.
