Green River City has received $75,000 to conduct a feasibility study to get natural gas to Green River. The goal is to present the findings to the CIB for funding of the project. Natural gas would save citizens and businesses money and encourage new growth.
The city is looking at putting up a new billboard. The owner of the billboard said he would let the city use the billboard for the first year at no cost. Conae Black stated, the city will need to look into the agreement before they print the billboard. The city is currently working with the travel bureau for assistance with the sign. The billboard was tabled for another meeting.
The city approved a contract with Brent Langston to prosecute violations of the city code. The cases will need to be a class B misdemeanor or below. The cost will be $100 per case and if a jury trial is needed a different fee will apply.
The basketball court at the park needs to be resurfaced. The city is looking at an acrylic surface, which is inexpensive and durable. The cost will be approximately one dollar per square foot. The surface is 7,200 square foot. There might be some added cost to fill in the existing cracks on the court. The money will come from the RAP tax.
The veteran’s monument planning is going well. To begin construction of the monument, the company will need a down payment of $3,500. The total cost is $7,500 and it includes installation. A monument committee member stated, he can get most of the sidewalks and rock surrounding the monument donated. The council approved the request.
The council reported, the softball fields and the parks looked really good for the tournament last weekend. The fire department had their wildland risk assessment. The animal control officer has a scanner to check and see if lost/stray animals are microchipped. Green River will host an LEPC meeting in the near future.
Mayor Pat Brady reported, the council and the planning and zoning board will need to have training on open and public meeting. It is required to have this training. If a council person abstains from a vote it is the same as voting no. Another budget meeting is required for the annual budget.
