FERRON-Charles Wesley “Wes” Moore, 64, slipped peacefully away from this life due to complications of cardiovascular disease on June 27, 2017 in Ferron, Utah. He was born in Tooele, Utah on Feb. 2, 1953, the fourth of nine children, to Charles William and Glendean Grisell Moore.
He attended school and had many exciting and dangerous adventures growing up in Utah, Texas, South Dakota and New Mexico. He started working in the family logging business at eight years old. As a young man, he settled in Wyoming and married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Jones, in 1971. Together, they had four daughters. For the first few years he worked as a ranch hand to support his family until he got roped into the oilfields. In 1992, he gave up the roughneck life and relocated the family to Utah. In 1995, at 42 years old, he had completed high school, and graduated with honors from the College of Eastern Utah with his Associates Degree of Applied Science in Building Construction/Construction Management. Dad was an excellent carpenter, and by the time he sat down each evening he had put in a full day of honest work. He and Kathleen parted ways in 2009. He spent his remaining years as a devoted companion to his best friend, Dona Roberts.
He didn’t belong to a formal congregation, but he was a God-fearing man and knew that Jesus Christ was his Savior. He had a loud voice, but a noticeable reverence about him. He was intelligent, resourceful, and had diverse skills which truly made him a jack of all trades. If he couldn’t fix it, no one could. As a dad he enjoyed playing pool, horseshoes, hacky sack, board games, loud rock and roll music, and watching football and WWF. Any family vacations were mapped out according to the location of extended family members. As a young grandpa, he could be found doing fun stuff like playing Super Mario on Nintendo 64, driving Tonka trucks in the sand box, building a zip line or any sort of activity to entertain the grand kids (and himself).
In his later years, he could be found beaming with pride about his grandchildren, making old fashioned fudge at Christmas time, riding his four-wheeler, and keeping himself busy with as many projects as his worn-out body would allow. He was an avid gardener and found joy tending to the many flower beds in his yard. Good work ethic, helping those who were down on their luck, fedora hats, gathering firewood, and doting on his dogs and cats are all part of who he was. We will profoundly miss his earthly presence.
Survived by his partner, Dona; his daughters, Carma (Mel) Whiting, Price, Utah; Teresa (Tom) Greenwood, Syracuse, Utah; Michele (Jason) Stewart, Clearfield, UT; Mistie (John) Jones, Provo, Utah; grandchildren, Devin (Brook) Cowley, Sarah (Trenton) Oakeson, Jaymin Cowley, Nathan Cowley, Olivia (Nathaniel) Johnson, Alaina (Gregg) Marchant, Nolan McNeely, Dylan Greenwood, Riley Greenwood, Avery Moore-Ferguson, Austin Stewart, Jude Stewart, Mitchell Stewart, Blake Stewart, Easton Stewart, Ellen Jones, Grace Jones, Naomi Jones, Adah Jones, Nora Jones, baby on the way Jones, Justin Ganino, Natalee Ganino and Alexios Zagos; two great granddaughters, Madilyn Oakeson, and baby on the way Penelope Johnson. His siblings, Glenola (Cody) Brownrigg, Torrington, Wyo.; Steven Moore, San Diego, Calif.; Vivian Townsend, Las Vegas, Nev.; Rebecca Domina, Las Vegas, Nev.; and step-brother Douglas Platt, Houston, Texas. Mother of his children and friend, Kathleen Moore, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by his mom and dad, Glendean and Raymond Platt; his father, Charles William Moore; brothers, Verle Moore, Lyle Moore, Boyd Moore, and Reuben Moore; niece, Stephanie Moore; nephew, Thomas Moore; and his beloved little dog, Taco.
At his request, cremation has taken place. Luncheon and Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 12:00 pm at the LDS Meeting house located at 415 West Apple St. in Grantsville, Utah. Interment to follow at the Grantsville Cemetery.
