Kent and Ruth Stilson have been chosen to be the Grand Marshals for this years Orangeville Days celebration, we feel honored to have them a part of our community and they deserve to be honored.
Kent and Ruth Stilson were born and reared in Orangeville. Ruth is the daughter of Wilford J and Lillie Christensen Humphrey. and Kent is the son of William Lester and Velma Wayman Stilson. Following graduation from Central High School, they were married in the Manti LDS Temple. Soon after, Kent served in the US Army in Texas, and worked a few years in the coal mines prior to studying building construction at Weber State College.
Kent and Ruth established Stilson Construction Company and built the subdivision in the northeast part of Orangeville. During the power plant construction boom of the 1970s and early 1980s they helped more than 200 families in Emery and Carbon counties with housing needs. For many years Ruth worked in the Emery County Recorders office, served with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and was a board member of the Emery County Care Center. Kent served 10 years in the Orangeville Ward Bishopric and also one term as Emery County Commission.
They are the parents of three sons, Ken, Lewis, Royce and two daughters Valene Wakefield and Camille Williams. They have 26 grand children and more than 100 great-grandchildren.
We appreciate the service they have given to our community over the many years. In June they celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary.
