Commissioner Brady said there has been confusion in regards to the Nuck Woodward road in Huntington Canyon. The commission has not been involved. The commission is sending a letter to the forest service to request they attend the next commission meeting to clarify how they came to the decision about a seasonal closure of the road.
Public lands director Ray Petersen said the road has been closed for maintenance. The forest service is thinking of a seasonal closure on the road after Labor Day. The high water undercut a bank and it sluffed off. Carbon County has been working to get the road reopened.
Commissioner Lynn Sitterud said he is concerned Emery County has been reported as being involved in the decision to close that road and they have not. Petersen said it would be hard for the Emery County Commission to close a forest service road. The invitation has been extended to the forest service to explain the issue at the next commission meeting on Aug. 1 at 3 p.m.
