American Legion legacy riders help dedicate Green River Veterans memorial

The American Legion freedom riders helped Green River City dedicate their new veteran’s memorial. The memorial is at the John Wesley Powell River History museum.
The American Legion helped fundraise for the new monument. Green River City formed a committee that helped the monument become a reality.
There were patriotic songs and a flag ceremony at the event. More than 300 riders attended the ceremony then headed to the park for lunch. They were scheduled to help dedicate a monument in Richfield later in the day. They are on their way to the American Legion convention in Reno.
The commander explained they had visited Green River about nine months ago and heard about the memorial. This legacy run they are raising money for children of fallen veterans. They have also helped disabled veterans. They helped raise some money for the Green River veterans monument.
The Green River childrens choir sang God Bless America. Travis Bacon sang God Bless the USA.
Mayor Pat Brady conducted the ceremony. There was a prayer and the presenting of the flags. The National Anthem was played on electric guitar. Mayor Brady said of all the many projects he has been involved in since becoming mayor this has been the most rewarding.
He thanked all the veterans for what they have done for our country.
He thanked all the riders for their participation in the dedication event in Green River.
A ladies choir sang America the Beautiful.
