Historical Society awards Phil Fauver with history preservation

Lori Ann Larsen from the Emery County Historical Society said they have had a tradition for several years of honoring someone who has gone the extra mile in preserving our history here in Emery County.
 “Tonight we have chosen to honor someone who has preserved the past in pictures. This gentleman has attended numerous events throughout the county and has always been an avid supporter of the Emery County Historical Society.
“This year’s honoree is Phil Fauver. Phil was born in Montana and was a farmer and rancher there until he decided to leave Montana to study photography at Brigham Young University. While in college, he worked at Standard Optical in Salt Lake City. It was while attending BYU that he met his wife Marilyn.
“After graduating he went to work for Eastman Kodak. One of the highlights of his career with Eastman Kodak was being sent to the Olympics in Lake Placid where he took pictures and processed photos for the events there. His career required him to relocate every four to five years and he and his family lived in New York, Montana, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Chicago, Illinois and Minnesota. He retired while they were living in Tennessee.
“He and Marilyn decided to move here to Emery County to help out their family and they have now been here longer than anywhere else. Phil has been very active in politics and is a writer and photographer for the Emery County Progress. Bernice Payne made the plaque for the award,” said Larsen.
 Larsen presented the award to Phil Fauver while his family members, wife-Marilyn and son Jim along his his wife Jennifer participated.
Fauver said he was very shocked and honored by the receiving of the award and thanked all of the historical society members for the award.
