FERRON-Molly Powell Scovill, age 80, passed away Sept. 2, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Castle Dale. Molly was born Jan. 25, 1937 in Green River, Utah to Jesse and Hazel Ralphs Powell. She married Amasa Easton Scovill Sept. 7, 1955 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were married for 56 memorable years prior to his passing on Feb. 10, 2012.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many auxiliaries and callings. Molly grew up on a farm in Green River, Utah and was a hard worker all of her life. She worked for the Emery County Senior Citizens Nutrition Center for 33 years, finally retiring at the age of 72.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting and embroidery. She loved to work in her flower garden. She had a beautiful voice and was a member of ward choirs and women’s groups. She spent many enjoyable hours riding four wheelers on the desert and mountains with Easton. She loved shopping and going to lunch with the girls.
Molly was kind and generous. She was the type of person who never worried about herself but was always willing to help others. She loved people unconditionally. She opened her heart and home to neighbors, family and friends. You always felt welcome in her home. She was a true example of service and Christ like love. To know Molly was to love her.
The things that she cherished the most were the gospel and spending time with her family. She loved to attend birthday parties and other activities with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Kay) Jensen, Castle Dale; sons, Michael Easton (Lisa) Scovill, Orangeville; Steven Mark (Michelle) Scovill, Rock Springs, Wyo.; brother, Jesse (Jackie) Powell, Richfield; 13 loving grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Molly was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Easton Scovill; daughter, Dixie Lynn Scovill; sister, Norma Tandy; brother, John Powell; and a great-grandson, Knixon Steve Sorensen.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Molly’s neighbors, friends and members of the Dutch Flat Ward who have watched over her and served her over the years. She truly loved them. We also express appreciation to the staff of Symbii Hospice for the kind and thoughtful care provided while she was ill.
