Letter to the Editor: Commission Secretary

I actually hoped Commissioner Lynn Sitterud would be a man of integrity and would stand up for the people of Emery County by doing the right thing. He stated in a “Meet the Candidate” meeting in Ferron City that all open county positions should be advertised before filling so that all county citizens would have a chance to apply. He obviously misled those in attendance in order to get elected. The position of his Confidential Secretary was never advertised, nor filled. On numerous occasions regarding why he didn’t have a “confidential secretary”, he stated to me “he just hasn’t seen the need for one”. But, today, he decided to “retain” Commissioner Brady’s Confidential Secretary on the Consent Agenda in Commission Meeting 9/5/2017. This commissioner’s Confidential Secretary is a new position (because it has never been filled). Commissioner Brady’s secretary was hired specifically for him. Regardless, he didn’t follow county policy, or his word to the voters, for hiring of new positions. Shame on Commission Sitterud.
