Joe Trenery was born in San Bernardino Calif. in 1946. He moved to Ferron, in 1968 with his wife Daria then raised two sons Mark and Matt. He has been a loyal resident ever since.
He came here working for the Forest Service then went into the coal mine industry where he retired.
He started out volunteering for Peach Days helping with the fish pond at Family Fun Day and turned it into 12 years of service and dedication to the city of Ferron as a City Council Member.
He always loved helping with the Stock Show and other events for the city with many hours of volunteer service cleaning up the streets and working on drainage projects.
One of his favorite activities was being Santa’s Helper for many schools and Christmas party events. He also helped the city with many improvements and projects volunteering his own equipment from his local business Trenery Tractor Service. Ferron City is proud to honor Joe as our Peach Day’s Grand Marshal for 2017.
Toinette Thomas was honored at the Field of Flags program on the Saturday morning of Peach Days.
She along with her late husband Jerry Thomas have been involved in the Field of Flags since its beginning. Jerry was a Vietnam Veteran who believed in honoring the flag. The opportunity to work with the Field of Flags was very important to him. Last year he was suffering with cancer but insisted on helping with the flags with the aid of his good friend Clifford Snow.
Ferron City appreciates their hard work with the flags.
