Meeting tonight to feature 13 commission candidates

Emery County is in the process of finding a new commissioner to replace Keith Brady who resigned.
A meeting will be held tonight at the Emery County building at 6 p.m. The central committee of the Republican party will hear from the 13 candidates who have submitted applications.
These candidates include: Tracy Addley, Travis Bacon, Derek Beagley, Kirk Christiansen, Gil Conover, Jim Fauver, Tom Grimm, Delynn Fielding, Hilary Gordon, Randy Johnson, Russ Larsen, Les Wilberg and Kent Wilson.
After hearing from all the candidates and a question and answer session, the central committee will vote. After the initial vote; three candidates will be eliminated and then the voting will continue and candidates eliminated until one candidate comes away with 51 percent of the votes.
The name of this candidate will be presented to the Emery County Commission on Sept. 19 for their approval or disapproval. Commission meeting begins at 3 p.m.
The central committee includes all precinct chairman and vice chairman, the executive committee of the Republican party, all elected officials of Emery County who are Republicans and the two commissioners Lynn Sitterud and Paul Cowley.
