Last week the Emery High Lady Spartan volleyball team began region play as they hosted Grand High Tuesday afternoon and evening and then hosted San Juan on Thursday afternoon and evening. Both matches went to five games but each time the Spartans prevailed in the end with a win.
Emery defeated Grand 25-15, 26-24, 23-25, 21-25 and 16-14. Emery defeated San Juan 13-25, 25-22, 16-25, 25-23 and 15-8.
Emery is off to a good start this season as the team plays together and executes well. It also helps when one of your hitters is 6’2” and strikes the ball really well and that hit is more than likely headed towards the floor. Megan Jensen plays the game well and is an all-around player but give her a decent set at the net and the point generally goes to Emery.
This is not a one-person team though, this is a team that has practiced long and hard to be who they are and that is a team that will need to be reckoned with throughout the season.
Emery will travel to Manti this Tuesday to continue the season.
